As a gallery populated by historical building materials, functional memorabilia and local artistic creations, BUiLDiNG CHARACTER is the only resource for these related salvage items.
Owners Tony Nies and Marty Hulse opened BUiLDiNG CHARACTER in October 2007, after gutting and renovating the space months earlier. The warehouses were built at the turn of the century behind the Washington Inn that was erected in 1847. They were tobacco storage, and later, transformed into a comprehensive history of Lancaster’s culture.
